We are proud to announce that Nopan has received approval from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), the Dutch Central Bank, to operate as a licensed Payment Institution (PI) across the European Union. This marks an important milestone in our mission to support global merchants and fintechs as they transition to modern, local payment methods across Europe.
With this license, Nopan can offer end-to-end payment services to its customers, including a unified API supporting European payment methods, modern tokenization, and advanced settlement and reconciliation capabilities. The PI license enables us to operate directly within the European payments ecosystem and continue building scalable, compliant infrastructure for local payments.
Across Europe, consumer preferences are shifting rapidly toward local account-to-account (A2A) payment schemes and digital wallets. Solutions such as Blik in Poland, and newer pan-European initiatives like Wero are becoming the preferred way for consumers to pay, offering a seamless user experience, security and high conversion rates for merchants. For global brands, supporting these payment methods is no longer optional but essential to competing effectively in local markets. Nopan is purpose-built to simplify access to all major European schemes through a single integration.
